The Role:
As a Demi Chef at Balgownie Estate, you will work alongside experienced chefs, developing your skills across a variety of kitchen sections, including larder, pans, pastry, and large-scale event catering. Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and plating high-quality dishes with attention to detail.
- Supporting senior chefs in all aspects of kitchen operations.
- Assisting with menu development and innovation using fresh, seasonal produce.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
- Working across breakfast, lunch, and dinner services.
- Helping to create exceptional wedding and event dining experiences.

About You:
- Culinary Knowledge: Good understanding of culinary techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. An ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
- Safety: Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene practices acquired from Food Safety training.
- Communication: Clear and effective verbal communication skills to interact with team members.
- Time management: manage multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently allocate and prioritise time and resources in a fast-paced environment.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with colleagues, including staff in other departments and management, to ensure smooth operations.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and quality in food preparation and presentation.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to handle varying customer volumes, chef requests, and varying shifts, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, weekends, events, and holidays.
- Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for extended periods and handle physically demanding tasks in a hot and busy kitchen environment
- Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- Experience as a Commis Chef
- Valid Food Safety certificate
