Role Overview

As a Solutions Architect at BDL, you will be part of the technical leadership responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving robust, scalable, and secure solutions that power our logistics platforms. This is a hands-on role, blending architecture, engineering, and leadership. You will work closely with distributed engineering teams, product and project management, and business stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions that align with our business strategy and technology vision.

Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design:

  • Lead the end-to-end architecture and design of scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions using Azure, .NET, ReactJS/Angular, Entity Framework, and SQL Server.
  • Architect, develop, and deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions aligned with business objectives and digital strategy. This will include developing and maintaining architectural blueprints, technical roadmaps, solution design documentation and guiding the team on implementation.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into detailed technical designs, balancing strategic execution, timelines, cost optimisation, and risk management.
  • Lead the implementation of robust integration solutions (SFTP, CSV, REST APIs) for onboarding new customers and connecting with external partners.
  • Ensure all solutions meet non-functional requirements for identity management, security, scalability, performance, and availability.

Technical Leadership & Best Practices:

  • Be hands-on with coding, code reviews, and code merging, setting and upholding high standards for code quality and maintainability.
  • Drive adoption of Domain Driven Design (DDD), Test Driven Development (TDD), and modern engineering practices across the team.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and knowledge sharing.
  • Champion best practices in software development, DevOps, CI/CD, and security, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISO, GDPR).

Project & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, project management) to deliver new features, enhancements, and customer-specific solutions.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between engineering, product, customer, project management, vendors, and business stakeholders, translating business requirements into technical solutions and vice versa.
  • Support pre-sales and solutioning activities (approx. 10-15% of time), including technical input for RFPs, proposals, and future pipeline opportunities.
  • Guide the team in evaluating project constraints, assessing solution strengths, weaknesses, and costs, and preparing for successful implementation.

Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and team capability, staying abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Lead proof-of-concept initiatives to validate new technologies and approaches before full-scale implementation.
  • Ensure solutions are designed for long-term scalability, adaptability, and alignment with BDL’s global growth ambitions.
