Support Worker (Internally know as an Enablement Assistant)

Hourly Rate: £13.00
About the role
The person you will be supporting is 34-year-old Lee, who loves to socialise, meeting and talking with new people whenever he can. Lee likes to be active and do a variety of interesting things, even if he doesn’t always admit to it. Lee likes to have his days planned out in advance, which is something to be mindful of.
He also enjoys going out for bike rides, he loves a trip to Nando’s and is always up for a having fun.
Lee has a diagnosis of a mild-moderate Learning Disability, Autistic Traits, and an unspecified eating disorder. Sometimes Lee needs help with some aspects of his day to day living, but this is mostly prompting, and he will happily help with most things. He may at times need help understanding things and would need to have them explained a few times until he has grasped it.
Lee needs someone to support him that is active, fun and upbeat. If you have enough energy, he will buy in to you and try new tasks/activities he is presented with. Lee can sometimes say he doesn’t want to do anything, when he really does, so he needs someone who can encourage him to get moving and make the first step, doing so with positivity.

John is a 52-year-old man with a diagnosis of Autism and learning disabilities. He is supported on a 1:1 basis and located in his own home is Headington, Oxford.
John requires support and encouragement in cooking his meals, shopping and cleaning his house, to ensure he maintains his independence and gains confidence.
He loves listening to music and attends a local music group once a week, which he loves to share with his team, once he gets to know you.
John loves going for long walks with his team and having lunch in a local pub or cafe.
John can become anxious at times and therefore requires warm, positive team members to reassure him to feel safe and secure.

About PBS4
We are a values led social care provider that provides Neurodisability services to individuals with Autism, Learning Disabilities and/or Behaviours that may challenge. We support people to live in their own homes, with their own tenancies and our model of support is a practice called Positive Behaviour Support. Our CEO Jonathan Beebee is a registered Learning Disabilities Nurse and qualified Behaviour Analyst. We are a medium-sized organisation supporting 37 people across Hampshire, Dorset, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Somerset, with a workforce of circa 300 employees.
Within PBS4, we call Support Workers ‘Enablement Assistants’. As an Enablement Assistant you will have the support of a team of people dedicated to supporting that person. You will also be able to access support from the Enablement Manager, Deputy Enablement Manager and the Positive Behaviour Support Clinician who provide you and the team with management and leadership. Your shift pattern may consist of day shifts, waking nights and sleeps.
