About our Community Partnership Program

The Community Partnership Program works within a multidisciplinary team at a Medicare Mental Health Hub to provide children and their families accessing this Service with specialised mental health support. Our KidsXpress Expressive therapist and Parent Coach work within this team providing therapy and parenting support.

About the Role

As a KidsXpress Parent Coach/Clinician you will support children’s caregivers through psychoeducation, coaching, and therapeutic interventions rooted in Expressive Therapy. The goal is to empower caregivers with the tools and strategies needed to navigate parenting challenges effectively.

As a Parent Coach you will:

  • Deliver coaching interventions for parents and caregivers
  • Deliver training programs, including Tuning into Kids and Circle of Security
  • Work closely with expressive therapists, clinicians, educators, and other professionals to support caregiving systems and the whole family unit.

About You

You are dedicated to using evidence-informed practices when supporting parents and caregivers, identifying as a highly motivated professional with exceptional coaching and communication skills. You have a thoughtful approach to assessing family needs and developing practical, personalised plans grounded in your expertise in mental health, child development, and trauma-informed principles. You will work in partnership with parents and carers, supporting them in fostering effective and positive relationships with their children.

Requirements for candidates interested in this role are:

  • A postgraduate qualification in art therapy, music therapy, drama therapy, dance movement psychotherapy, play therapy, psychology, psychotherapy, social work, or a related field.
  • Professional experience providing therapeutic psychoeducation to parents and caregivers, with a strong understanding of child development, family dynamics, and key therapeutic frameworks for effective intervention and parent support.
  • Experience working in one or more of the following settings: mental health, counselling, psychology, social work, or education.
  • Experience in collaborating with therapists from different creative modalities in a professional setting.
  • Advanced applied knowledge of trauma-informed principles and practices for supporting children, families, and communities impacted by trauma.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a caregiving network to support a child’s well-being.
  • An understanding of the health system and confidence working with clients under case management and those involved with multiple service providers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build strong rapport with parents and caregivers.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development, including accessing regular clinical supervision.
  • An alignment with KidsXpress’ vision, mission, and values.
  • A current registration or eligibility to register with a national professional body.
  • A Working with Children Check (WWCC) number.
  • Have or are willing to obtain a National Police History Check.
