Junior Arborist

Job Overview

This role is ideal for someone looking to develop a career within arboriculture. You will support a range of aerial and ground-based vegetation management activities, working alongside experienced arborists while developing your skills and qualifications. We’re looking for the right person rather than the right qualifications. Someone who likes being outside, works well as part of a team, doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty and takes pride in their work. You’ll get to know all areas of our work bank to enable you to have a wide skill set that will see you through peaks and troughs of work.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out ground-based duties, including:

• Grass cutting
• Vegetation clearance
• Site preparation and clean-up
• Support climbing arborists during tree work operations

• Assist with aerial vegetation management 

• Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles to a safe standard
• Follow all health and safety procedures at all times
• Work effectively as part of a team on a variety of sites
• Travel to different project locations as required

Training & Development

We offer a full range of training opportunities through our Lantra Approved Training Division (VMT), including:

• Bespoke training plans and a dedicated training and development coordinator
• Accredited training as part of a training pathway
• Support and skills development from our in-house Lantra accredited instructors, as well as our experienced Senior Arborists,  Site Supervisors and Site Managers
• Career progression within arboriculture

Skills & Attributes

• Full UK Driving Licence
• Good timekeeping and reliability

Desirable qualifications (not essential)

• CS30/31 (Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting / Felling Small Trees)
• CS38 (Tree Climbing & Rescue)
• CS39 (Use of Chainsaw from Rope & Harness)
• Manual Handling
• First Aid +F
