Salary: £30K-£32K (To be pro rata in line with agreed hours upon offer)

Working Hours: We are open to being flexible with hours, this includes start times and finish times. We would be looking to offer 20-25 hours per week for this role.

The Role

We are seeking a driven and proactive Senior Legal Cashier, to join our Finance Team in Derby. The Senior Legal Cashier will carry out all functions typical of a Legal Cashier, maintaining accuracy in financial operations.

Some of the duties will include:

• Process client and office receipts and payments in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules in addition to internal policies

• Assisting with the management of the client balances, ensuring correct allocation and the prompt return of residual monies

• Setting up and authorising payments using the firms’ banking platforms.

• Co-ordinating the checks of out-of-date cheques regularly, stopping and re-issuing where required.

• Monitoring suspense account and clearing down as quickly as possible.

• Taking ownership of the client account bank reconciliations.

• Assisting with month end processes.

• Process bills, credit notes, write-offs and ledger adjustments as authorised.

• Assisting with training of new members of the cashiering team.

• Dealing with interest calculations and other ad-hoc tasks as and when required.

• Covering the specific responsibilities carried out by the individual legal cashiers during periods of holiday or absence to ensure all areas of work are kept up to date.

• Undertake any other reasonable duties to support the Finance Team, as required.

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Legal Cashier within a Law firm

• Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and wider knowledge of legal accounting systems

• Calm under pressure, team player, flexible and adaptable to changing demands in workload

• Motivated, pro-active and highly organised, with good attention to detail
