Role Overview
As a Junior Health and Safety Advisor, you will support the South and Central region HSE team in promoting and maintaining high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance across our operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within Health and Safety & Management. You will work alongside experienced HSE professionals and operational teams, gaining valuable experience across construction, maintenance, housing, and retrofit environments.
You will support site inspections, risk assessments, audits, investigations, training, and reporting while developing your knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the HSE team with site inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
- Assist with identifying hazards and assessing risks across operational sites.
- Support the development and review of risk assessments and method statements.
- Assist with accident, incident, and near-miss investigations.
- Support the delivery of site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings.
- Help monitor compliance with company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Work closely with operational teams, subcontractors, and site personnel to promote safe working practices.
- Assist with environmental inspections and monitoring of environmental standards.
- Attend and support regular Health & Safety meetings.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and documentation.
- Support the implementation and tracking of corrective actions following inspections and audits.
- Assist with preparing HSE performance reports and identifying areas for improvement.
- Develop knowledge of construction health, safety, and environmental legislation and industry best practice.
- Promote a positive and proactive health, safety, and environmental culture across Cardo Group.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- A NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent recognised Health & Safety qualification), or actively working towards achieving one. Alternatively, candidates holding a valid SMSTS qualification with 3-5 years’ construction industry experience will also be considered.
- A genuine interest in developing a career within Health and Safety Management.
- Basic understanding of health and safety principles and risk management.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
- Confident working with a range of people across operational and management teams.
- Good IT and administrative skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Full UK driving license
