What you will do
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be an experienced Ruby on Rails Engineer in our Product team and drive the development and ongoing alignment of market leading, generative AI powered education technology solutions, in pursuit of our mission of increasing life chances for students, everywhere.
Key role requirements
- Help us build new features into our asynchronous writing feedback service and real-time classroom. We work with thousands of students every day with our software stack consisting of Ruby on Rails, React, ES6, along with EventMachine, NodeJS and web sockets.
- You will add automated tests to our 20k+ test suite written with RSpec, Capybara, Selenium and Jasmine to be run through our CICD system.
- Work with our team of mobile app developers to ensure our service is accessible to a broad range of students and their devices.
About you
To succeed in this position you will be an experienced full stack web engineer with expertise in Rails, React and/or other JS frameworks. We are specifically looking for candidates who can demonstrate good team work skills, have good English communication skills, and are passionate about learning and growth.
You will possess 5+ years of professional software development experience, with a minimum of 1+ years experience with Ruby on Rails development.
Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications are highly desirable, you will be driven by the opportunity to create transformational products in the education sector.
You are looking to continue to develop and hone your skills, but also share your experience and leadership with others. You understand the core concepts around secure coding and factor that as a part of your work. You are eager to develop the right solution with automated tests to ensure it is also a reliable solution.
