Fixed Plant Fitter

Description

We are seeking an experienced Fixed Plant Fitter to join our Maintenance team. In this critical role, you will carry out mechanical maintenance across our processing plant to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and performance. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing faults, executing repairs, overhauls, and refurbishments on a range of fixed plant equipment including crushers, conveyors, pumps, and screens.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine work requirements.
  • Conduct general fitting and turning tasks including welding and brazing.
  • Strip, assess, and rebuild fixed plant equipment such as crushers, screens, gearboxes, hydraulic units, and slurry pumps.
  • Perform major mechanical overhauls and refurbishments.
  • Undertake precision fitting tasks to fine tolerances (bearings, bushes, sleeves, etc.).
  • Use precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Set up and operate hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment.
  • Work safely and comply with all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Trade-qualified Fitter and Turner.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a similar maintenance role within a metallurgical processing plant.
  • Proven mechanical experience with pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and pipefitting.
  • Sound understanding of maintenance systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong decision-making skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Manual C Class driver’s licence.
