About the role: Finance & Human Resources Manager
We are looking for an exceptional individual to join us in a unique post as Finance & HR Manager, covering the overall Bitesize practice. This is a part-time role initially (with scope to grow into full time), which would suit someone looking to work either 5 shorter days or 3 full days each week.
This is a hybrid role, which will require a minimum of 1-2 days per week in our London office to ensure success.
As Finance & HR Manager, you will oversee these critical support functions for Bitesize Consulting and associated companies. You will ensure robust financial processes, maintain compliance with relevant standards, and help shape the internal team culture alongside our outsourced HR advisor.
At times, the role may also involve supporting client-facing finance work for some of our partners in hospitality and consumer goods. You will play an integral role in Bitesize Consulting’s growth and development, ensuring our internal systems and team operate at the highest standards.
Summary of Key Responsibilities – Finance
- Maintain accounting and financial records for Bitesize, overseeing accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Ensure timely and accurate month-end reporting, including intercompany recharges.
- Oversight of client invoicing for the practice, ensuring all relevant services are invoiced, with systems costs recharged to clients.
- Preparation of P&Ls / management accounts and providing financial commentary, and recommendations to Directors. Ad-hoc financial analysis to support decisions.
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring all Bitesize employees are paid accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with pension contributions and reporting requirements.
- Oversee cash flow monitoring & supplier payment run processes, identifying cost-saving opportunities and negotiate with suppliers where necessary.
- Oversight & training of junior team to ensure financial processes are completed to the highest standards.
- Ensure financial systems are efficient and integrated.
- Client onboarding – assist with engagement letters, DD set-up, invoicing, KYC and AML.
- Client retention – oversee client feedback to ensure work is delivered to the highest standard.
- Assist with ICAEW compliance – AML, CPD, PII, etc.
Summary of Key Responsibilities – Human Resources
- Work alongside the leadership team & outsourced HR advisor to develop and manage HR functions for Bitesize.
- Help build and maintain a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
- Administer selection and onboarding processes, including job design, advertising and interview arrangements.
- Create and implement a structured onboarding process for new team members.
- Ensure all essential HR documentation and people processes, including right-to-work checks are in place and meticulously applied.
- Monitor Bitesize time tracking for accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with planning resource allocation to ensure appropriate coverage across projects and clients.
- Work with team managers to plan for gaps in service & ensure cover during vacation / illness, etc.
- Establish training programs for different levels of employees across finance and consulting teams.
- Ensure CPD and ongoing professional development of the team are tracked and supported.
- Create and oversee processes to enable knowledge-sharing across the wider Bitesize group.
- Manage performance review cycles and assist in setting and monitoring objectives for team members.
- Ensure compliance with HR policies, employment law, and company procedures.
- Support team well-being and handle employee relations issues as needed.
About You
This is blended role which requires someone who is confident managing both finance and HR functions in a fast-moving, growing business. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently and taking ownership of key processes in both disciplines.
- Strong experience in finance and HR management.
- Qualified or Part-Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) (or similar)
- Exceptional organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within hospitality, food & drink, or consumer goods (preferred).
- Proficiency in Xero, Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Understanding of HR processes and employment law compliance (CIPD qualification a bonus).
- Ability to prioritise and manage your own time in a fast-paced environment.
- Energy, enthusiasm, commitment and a can-do flexible attitude. Pro-active and an autonomous worker.
- Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
