Position Summary
Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.
The Bank teller’s day will be balanced between welcoming customers as they visit the Westpac Instore facility, identifying needs and referring customers onto the appropriate business partner. You can expect a typical day to include accurately and efficiently processing customer transactional banking needs. You will receive on-going support and training.
Over time, you will confidently assist customers by helping them with their banking enquiries through proactively identifying opportunities. You will do this through asking the right questions and refer more complex solutions on to Westpac team of Personal Banking Advisors and Personal Bankers to deliver.
As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
Responsibilities
• Proactively welcome customers and create a positive first impression.
• Fulfill all customer transactional banking needs accurately and quickly, using skills including cash handling, and multi-tasking to ensure accurate and timely service.
• Demonstrating behaviours that support a customer-centric culture in order to deepen customer relationships.
• Actively manage customer flow through identifying and prioritising customer requirements and migrating customers to the appropriate channel.
• Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
• Support colleagues by offering assistance where required across Council’s other areas of operations.
• Processing and filling clients’ mail.
• Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
• Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
• Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
• Other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
• Previous experience in retail or customer service (banking experience is an advantage).
• Strong numerical and cash-handling skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work well under pressure, particularly during peak hours.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers.
• Previous experience working with indigenous people.
• Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.
Desired
• Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
• Basic knowledge of banking products and services.
• Experience with Banking software.
• Experience working within an indigenous organisation.
• An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
