The Dental Practitioner will work collaboratively with the Dental Clinic Practice Manager and Dental team to provide leadership and make key decision in promoting a progressive and patient care environment. The role will be to provide treatment to patients attending the clinic and also to be responsible for providing supervision to the Graduate dentists. The position is seen as key to the organisation.
Accountability 1: Clinical care
• Deliver high quality services and care in a safe environment
– Support to attain and maintain applicable accreditation standards
– Provide the right care to the right patient in the right place at the right time
– Provide culturally appropriate and responsive care
• Monitor and improve the experience of the consumer
– Regularly monitor patient flow
– Maximize use of consulting rooms
– Support and streamline the arrival process for first point of contact
• Support a highly effective team of dental staff, focusing on encouraging effective communication and enhancing practice efficiency
– Assess staff training program
– Participate and complete Incident and Complaints reporting and management
– Adhere to infection control guidelines, policy and procedures of the CDH Dental Clinic

• Participate in staff performance reviews
• Attend staff training programs as required
• Ensure deadlines are met

• Provide NCN Health – appropriate documentation to support credentialing and scope of practice
requirement
Accountability 3: Quality
• Monitor and support a range of clinical care based performance indicators and report as required to
health service executive and quality committees
• Support the development and maintain appropriate policies and procedures covering l aspects of
the Dental Clinic operations.
• Provide leadership supervision and support the learning outcomes of Dental Students on
placement within the clinic
• Provide leadership supervision and support the learning needs of the Graduate dentist within the
clinic
Duties List
The Dental Practitioner is to perform all general clinical dental duties within the scope of practice.
Including the following, but not limited to:
• Comprehensive oral evaluation
• Diagnostic radiographs (X-rays)
• Caries (cavity) detection, prevention and treatment
• Repair / replacement of broken or missing teeth
• Crowns
• Dentures
• Emergency treatment
• Root canals
• Tooth extraction
• Prescription and delivery of anaesthetics / analgesics / medicaments
• Gum disease detection, prevention and treatment
• Preventive and therapeutic cleanings
• Cosmetic dentistry
• Teeth whitening
• Veneers
Key Selection Criteria
Mandatory:
• Satisfactory National History Criminal Check prior to commencement of employment
• Satisfactory New South Wales ‘Employee’ Working with Children Check prior to commencement of engagement
• A current Drivers Licence
• Immunisation in accordance with Infection Control Guideline
• Bachelor of Dental Science (BDSc) or equivalent of; approved by the Dental Board of Australia (DBA)
• Radiation Operators Licence
• Minimum two years clinical experience

• Sound working knowledge of information technology
