Land Acquisition Manager – Renewable Energy Projects

Currently, two large solar farms (More than 100 MW each) are operational, with approximately 1GW of projects in the pipeline.

Position Overview:

We are now seeking an experienced Land Acquisition Manager for our project development team. As the Land Acquisition Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and acquiring land for developing renewable energy projects, including solar and BESS projects, according to Risen’s project requirements. You will work closely with the project development team, landowners, government agencies, and other stakeholders to secure the necessary land rights for our projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate, land acquisition, and a deep understanding of the regulatory and permitting processes related to renewable energy development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Identification and Evaluation:

  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify suitable land for renewable energy projects based on project requirements and specifications.
  • Assess the feasibility of potential sites, considering factors such as environmental impact, zoning regulations, and infrastructure availability.

2. Negotiation and Acquisition:

  • Initiate and lead negotiations with landowners to secure land rights for renewable energy projects.
  • Collaborate with legal and financial teams to ensure that land acquisition agreements align with company objectives and comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Improve land acquisition process and procedures and build up property price/valuation database.

3. Stakeholder Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with landowners, local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Address concerns and questions from landowners and communities, ensuring transparency throughout the land acquisition process.

4. Regulatory Compliance:

  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal regulations related to land use and renewable energy development.
  • Work closely with regulatory authorities to secure necessary permits and approvals for land acquisition.
  • Understand land law and requirements in Australia and transfer such knowledge to project development team.

5. Due Diligence:

  • Conduct thorough due diligence on potential land acquisitions, including environmental assessments, title searches, and other relevant investigations.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or relevant legal, property, land or estate management qualification.
  • Proven experience in land acquisition, including leases, purchases, and licenses, focusing on rural/utility property assets.
  • Renewable Energy Industry experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory processes, zoning laws, and environmental considerations related to renewable energy development.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in budgetary and risk management.
  • Experience with GIS and other land mapping tools and strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Fluent English language skills.
  • Current driving license.
