Summary:

We are seeking a Barista/All Rounder to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for educating customers on the wide range of choices on the menu. They must know how to give recommendations based on customers’ preferences and take orders. To be a successful barista/allrounder, you should attain excellent customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates; providing excellent customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Barista/All Rounder will work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers appropriately and help them decide on a beverage or food when needed.
  • Excellent knowledge and execution of the sequence of service.
  • Upsell store items when the opportunity arises.
  • Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, including coffees, teas, smoothies, as well as blended drinks.
  • Maintain organisazation & cleanliness by sanitising equipment, utensils, and work areas.
  • Maintain proper restock of coffee brewing equipment and replenish bean supply. It applies to inventory for other store supplies as well.
  • Properly follow equipment machine instructions and notify a manager or supervisor of any issues.
  • Perform preventative measures, including maintenance to keep other machines and equipment in working condition.
  • Convey orders to other baristas for preparation.
  • Follow all safety and organisational standards to maintain a healthy and safe environment.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties as needed
  • Clear crockery and glassware as required
  • Deliver food and drink to the table promptly and accurately
  • Clear and clean tables as required
  • Greet all customers with fast, friendly, personalised service and develop a genuine rapport with customers
  • Sound knowledge of POS systems and cash handling
  • Answer telephone in a courteous and friendly manner
  • Keep customer service area clean, presentable, and stocked, including cake cabinet
  • Pack down, clean, and restock cafe for the following day
  • Maintain clean, productive dishwash section
  • Use undercounter dishwasher in a safe manner
  • Follow venue operational checklists
  • Recognise the importance of working as a team to ensure a well-functioning café
  • Willingly assist other staff members with customer problems or requests.
  • Assist in the kitchen when required to do dishes, food prep etc.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a customer service or food service role preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
