Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Medical Administrative Assistant to provide onsite administrative support to our Emergency Department at the Mater Private Hospital in either a part-time or casual role. You will assist the Practice Manager at the Mater Private Emergency Care Centre (MECC) with tasks such as Medicare and WorkCover billing, managing practice finances, and various other administrative tasks. The successful candidate must be available to work on Saturdays and Sundays during daytime hours. Although the MECC operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week, this role does not require any late or overnight work.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to ensure the smooth operations of the Mater Private Emergency Care Centre
  • Complete Medicare and Work Cover billing
  • Complete invoicing processes and follow up on outstanding invoices
  • Assist with capturing financial data for reporting purposes
  • Assist the MECC Practice Manager with administration tasks as required
  • Collaborate with the Mater Hospital administrative staff
  • Provide on-site administration support for PEHA doctors
  • Assist new doctors with department orientation and onboarding

Requirements:

  • High school certificate or equivalent; additional education or certification in administration is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an administrative assistant or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
  • Discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
  • Must be available to work on Saturdays and Sundays
