Disability Services Officer

The purpose of this position is to provide support to people who are assisted by HomePlace, ensuring our participants are assisted to create opportunities for improvements in their quality of life as well as to be safe and well cared for.

Support workers are required to manage their time between the support needs of participants, including their social and lifestyle needs, household organisation and housekeeping tasks, and communication responsibilities to the participant, their family and other members of the team.

Qualifications

• Cert III in Disability, Individual Support or similar

• Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (Basic Emergency Life Support/senior first aid certificate)

• Current NDIS screening clearance.

• Up to date COVID vaccination status

Experience

• Experience with support people with intellectual disabilities and/or complex health care needs, or life experience which equips the individual with the skills and values to learn and provide high-quality person-centred supports

Personal Aptitude and Skills

• A strong commitment to the practical application of social justice principles.

• Excellent demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal.

• Good organisational and time management skills.

• Ability to enthuse others and be a good team player.

• Ability to work on own initiative, be innovative and creative to prioritise tasks and maintain a flexible approach to working methods.

• Ability to maintain a high standard of personal conduct.
