POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title : AVL Technician & AVL Engineers depending on experience (opportunities in Dubai and Doha)

Contract Period : As per contract and in accordance with country specific labour law

HOURS OF WORK

Normal office hours are 08.00am to 17.00pm, Sunday to Thursday (Doha) or 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday (Dubai). However, due to the nature of our industry, you will be expected to work such hours as may be reasonably necessary to enable the proper performance of your duties. Where applicable, show rates and/or per diem payments may be payable in accordance with the Project’s Contract, Company’s Show Rates policy and/or Expenses Policy and as amended from time to time.

POSITION PURPOSE

The AVL Technician is responsible for the preparation and delivery of a wide range of projects within the Middle East region. Projects will vary in size and complexity and your role will play a key part in the successful completion of all projects to the highest standard.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver projects onsite with the guidance of Senior Engineers and/or Project Management.

• Take lead on small to medium scale projects and demonstrate a forward-thinking, positive attitude.

• Maintain all rental equipment to a high standard and ensure all assets are kept fit for purpose.

• Liaise with the Prep Technicians, Operations Team, Project Managers and Technical HODs to ensure equipment is prepped in a timely manner to the highest standard.

• Suggest improvements to project specifications and ensure projects have the correct equipment for the scope of work.

• Take lead on equipment preparation and supervise the prep team.

• Ensure equipment is accurately tested on its return to the warehouse and QC standards are met.

• Undertake preventative maintenance and create reports when required.

• Ensure your work area is always kept clean and tidy.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

• Demonstrate specialisation in one or more key areas of AVL (preference would be Audio and Lighting).

• Ability to assist and/or lead small audio system setup & operation.

• Have a good, practical understanding of Audio Signal Flow and Gain Structure.

• Have a good, practical understanding of Microphones and RF Systems.

• Have a basic understanding of Audio Rigging.

• Ability to assist and/or lead Lighting Setups.

• Have a basic understanding of Lighting and control systems.

• Have a basic understanding of Lighting Rigging.

• Ability to factory reset lights and put them back to a working standard.

• Ability to assist or lead on LED and Projection Setups.

• Have a basic understanding of video control systems and switchers.

• Have a basic understanding of video formats and standards.

• A basic understanding of networking.

• Demonstrate excellent fault-finding skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Communicates in a positive and inclusive manner always demonstrating respect towards others regardless of job level.

• Structured, Methodical working practices.

• Strong attention to detail, data management and quality of work.

• Fluent in English, written & spoken.

• Ability to drive and have access or ownership of a car.

• Flexible to work based on the requirements of the live event industry.

• Willingness to work independently and unsupervised or in a collaborative manner as part of a team.

• Willingness to share knowledge and expertise, showing good mentorship skills.

• Able to deputise and/or provide coverage when requested.

• Good understanding and applicability of H&S requirements and practices.

• Participate in training as directed.

• Willing to work outside of the Qatar on projects in the GCC and beyond.
