We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our People, Culture & Safety team, with a predominant focus on payroll. The successful candidate will process payroll for 150 staff ensuring compliance and provide administration support to People, Culture & Safety. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team and individually.
About the Role
As the Payroll, People & Culture Officer, you’ll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing while providing administrative and operational support for the People, Culture & Safety team.
This includes:
- Process fortnightly payroll (including wages, taxes, superannuation, and leave entitlements).
- Administer employee benefits (salary packaging, long service leave, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with legislation (ATO, Awards, Single Touch Payroll).
- Provide payroll reports and support budgeting processes.
- People, Culture & Safety administrative support
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
- Review and monitor staff salaries against relevant awards.
- Manage student and volunteer placements.
- Track and coordinate professional development and staff recognition.
- Monitor and coordinate the incident management system.
- Support OHS meetings, emergency drills, and safety initiatives.
- Assist in implementing audit findings and building safety awareness.
About You
We’re looking for someone with:
✔ Experience in end-to-end payroll processing (medium-sized organisation preferred).
✔ Proficiency in payroll software (Employment Hero or similar).
✔ Knowledge of awards and enterprise agreements.
✔ Administrative experience in People, Culture and/or Safety.
✔ Strong people skills – collaborative and team-oriented.
✔ Attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively.
✔ Problem-solving mindset – ability to resolve issues proactively.
What You’ll Need
- Diploma of Business (or equivalent experience).
- Membership (or willingness to join) the Australian Payroll Association.
- Clear Police Check & Working with Children Check.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License.
