About the Role:
The Patient Services Officer is responsible for providing high quality, culturally competent, front-line reception and administrative services to patients, doctors, nurses, Aboriginal health practitioners, allied health professionals and visiting specialists at Biripi. As a first point of contact, the Patient Services Officer ensures the patient flow is conducted with minimal interruptions by effectively using time management skills, informative communication skills, while providing support to waiting patients
The key objectives of the role include:
- Providing high quality customer service to all internal and external staff, visitors, patients, and community in the areas of reception, record management and filing
- Providing administrative support services to Senior Clinical Staff as required
- Managing appointment books, including scheduling of all appointments, confirming appointments, following up failure to attends, cancellations and rescheduling as needed.
- Assisting in patient enquiries and directing them as appropriate, including medical and emergency relief enquiries.
- Managing transport bookings and liaising with the transport team as required.
Essential Criteria:
- Confirmation of Aboriginality
- Current First Aid & CPR (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and their leaders, respecting traditional culture and ways of doing business.
- Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrate empathy.
- Strong understanding of maintaining privacy and confidentiality and demonstrated ability to uphold these principles.
- Ability to practice initiative, judgement, and insight.
- Sound level of literacy and demonstrated attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
- Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including National Police Check and Working with Children clearances.
- Current valid Driver’s Licence
