About the role:

The Dental Assistant is responsible for assisting in the provision of dental health services to improve dental/oral healthcare outcomes to Aboriginal people. The dental clinicians will provide supervision and support in relation to your clinical practice.

We encourage both experienced dental assistants and those studying for their Certificate III to apply.

The key objectives of the role:

  • Assist in the delivery of oral health care to the Aboriginal community.
  • Provide assistance and support to Dental clinicians.
  • Assist in the implementation of programs and services promoting the oral health of Aboriginal people.
  • Assess and develop strategies to improve dental health in the Aboriginal community.
  • Provide reception activities for the dental team as required and ensure all patient information is recorded accurately, using Biripi’s health information and dental client management systems.
  • Compliance with all infection control policies and procedures including cleaning of equipment and materials to ensure that all tools of the trade are sterilised and operational.

Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting or demonstrated experience working as a Dental Assistant.
  • Ability to build relationships with all levels of the organisation and the community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrated empathy when required.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Computer Literacy.
  • Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including the National Police Check and Working with Children clearance
  • Current drivers licence
