About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Team Leader to oversee the day-to-day operations of our Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) depot in Bayswater. This is a full-time position, working across Monday to Sunday.
As the Team Leader, you will play a critical role in ensuring the depot runs efficiently while providing a positive experience for our customers. You will lead a small team of Recycling Attendants, ensuring they are well-trained and performing tasks effectively, including sorting containers, issuing receipts, educating customers, managing drop-off bags, and maintaining the site. This hands-on role involves manual handling and occasionally operating machinery like forklifts.
You will also support local business development by identifying opportunities to increase container volumes and engaging with the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support, and motivate the depot team, including assisting with recruitment and training.
- Ensure excellent customer service, handle inquiries, and resolve complaints professionally.
- Oversee depot operations, including container sorting, data management, and coordinating container movement.
- Actively seek local business development opportunities and engage with community stakeholders.
- Manage financial transactions, daily reconciliations, and contribute to budget management.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe depot environment.
- Promote and ensure adherence to Work Health & Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
Skills & Experience
Mandatory:
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
- Demonstrated experience leading a small team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Analytical, numerical, and mathematical ability.
- Background in business development.
Desirable:
- Experience in cash handling and customer transactions.
- Previous managerial experience (e.g., retail, recycling centre).
- Experience with staff rostering.
