Position Overview

The Marketing Intern will support the Marketing Department in enhancing TBG’s digital presence and community engagement across multiple platforms and in person. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or early-career professional passionate about plants, sustainability, and storytelling through digital media.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in digital content creation, social media marketing, e-commerce, analytics and event promotion and management, contributing to initiatives that help grow awareness, visitation, and support for the Garden.

Key Responsibilities

Digital & Social Media Marketing

  • Assist in creating engaging content across social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Capture and edit photos and short videos of gardens, programs, and special events.
  • Support social media campaigns promoting retail, membership, and programming.
  • Monitor community engagement and respond to comments and messages.

Content Creation

  • Contribute ideas and content as needed for TBG’s website, blog, and weekly e-newsletters.
  • Assist with photography and videography to showcase seasonal beauty, volunteers, and behind-the-scenes stories.
  • Write short, engaging copy that aligns with TBG’s voice and mission.

E-Commerce & Retail Support

  • Assist with managing online marketing for the Garden Shop, including tracking online sales and weekly data analytics
  • Support seasonal marketing for pop-up retail initiatives.

Data & Analytics

  • Track and report on social media, website, and email marketing performance using analytics tools.
  • Help interpret data to identify trends and opportunities for growth and engagement.

Event Management and Marketing

  • Support digital and on-site promotion for special events, concerts, and educational programs.
  • Assist with event-day photography, live social coverage, and post-event content.
  • Support the planning and execution of seasonal events including outdoor concerts and Toronto’s largest tour of private gardens.

General Administrative Support

  • Help maintain the digital content archive (photos, videos, campaign assets).
  • Support marketing project coordination and communications with internal teams.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in plants, gardening, nature, wellness and sustainability.
  • Experience with social media platforms and digital tools (e.g., Canva, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Constant Contact).
  • Photography and/or video editing skills (considered an asset)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Organized, collaborative, enthusiastic and eager to learn in a small, creative environment.

Work Environment: This is an onsite, in-person role with the potential to work remotely one day per week.
