our local economy. To support these companies, we need someone passionate about
linking companies with the clinical and research infrastructure needed to help companies
bring their innovative products and services to market.
As the Program Manager (Life Science) the work you do will create significant impact for
our clients and for Innovation Factory. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and
execute the Southern Ontario Pharmaceutical and Health Innovation Ecosystem (SOPHIE) and Canadian Medtech Alliance (CAMEDA) programs, as well as supporting delivery of the Health Ecosystem to Accelerate & Leverage Trials of Healthcare Innovation (HEALTHI), wHealth Medpath programs, as well as other activities that help our customers solve big problems through leveraging the facilities, expertise and capacity of the Canadian health ecosystem.
This is a full-time position. This role will report to the Senior Program Manager, Life Sciences.
Core Responsibilities:
Life Science Project Management & Administration
- Manage delivery of SOPHIE, and CAMEDA programs to exceed client expectations and enhance their ability to leverage Hamilton health ecosystem infrastructure, facilities, and assets.
- Work with Senior Program Manager to manage internal relationships and communications necessary to successfully execute the SOPHIE and CAMEDA programs.
- Participate in the annual budget process, support the strategy and business planning processes, and monitor program performance and spending against stated objectives.
- Work with community stakeholders to organize and deliver program
- Identify and secure appropriate resources to effectively deliver against program requirements (ie. both internal/external to organization), including contracting with 3rd party participating companies, delivery partners and community stakeholders.
- Develop and manage processes and tools required to execute life sciences programming.
- Collaborate with community stakeholder and participating companies to ensure individual client projects are assigned, started, and completed successfully. Includes both pre- and post- program coordination and reporting.
- Establish and report out on evaluation metrics to determine success of programs and utilize this information to modify program content as required.
- Maintain a view of program status, and customer experience, using project management tools and customer relationship management systems.
- Ensure ongoing communication is maintained among program stakeholders and establish the most appropriate cadence for meetings and monitoring projects among subgroups.
- Drive cross functional collaboration with Marketing, Finance, Client Services to ensure all program elements are managed efficiently.
- Be a spokesperson for the organization and the program in the community.

Ecosystem Capacity Building
- Build and maintain strong relationships and networks amongst our regional
ecosystem partners.
- Enhance capacity of startup and scaling life companies to leverage Hamilton
health ecosystem infrastructure, facilities, and assets.
- Facilitate strategic relationships to link community partners with
collaborative opportunities.
- Support Innovation Factory response to potential grant opportunities to enhance ecosystem capacity.
- Respond to inbound inquiries regarding ecosystem initiatives and activities.
- Provide input to the Marketing team to facilitate the creation of communications and marketing materials to advance the interest of Innovation Factory clients.
- Support organization of site visits from select stakeholders.
- Maintain a view of customer engagement and experience, using project management tools and customer relationship management systems.
- Keep informed of industry trends and concepts that can be used to enhance
program offerings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an innovation- or commercialization-focused role
- Proven ability to manage programs in an organized and detailed manner to keep projects to planned timelines.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, to be able to work with customers and stakeholders internally and externally to ensure efficient program delivery.
- Ability to facilitate collaboration among multiple parties with disparate views and objectives and align the group toward a cohesive outcome.
- Capable of gathering relevant information and translating this into actionable insights.
- Knowledgeable in regional economics and needs of small to medium-sized businesses.
- Understand how to effectively derive and measure results from the programs we deliver and how we might learn and iterate from those results.
- Strong organizational skills to manage competing priorities concurrently.
- Motivated self-starter, who is comfortable with ambiguity.
- Experience with managing and interpreting data, using tools such as Excel, Insightly, Asana, etc.
- An ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively communicate in both English and French is an asset
Working Conditions:
- 5 days per week; 37.5 hours per week, regular daytime business hours are between 9 am EST to 5 pm EST.
- Opportunity for hybrid work model, allowing some remote work
- Some localized travel required
