Role Summary
Our ideal candidate is a detail-oriented person who wants to roll up their sleeves and participate in the delivery programs supporting innovative start-up and scaling companies.
As the Business Systems Analyst, you will be focused on assisting the Innovation Factory Operations team to support start-up and scale-up innovation companies. We are looking for someone who is an effective communicator, analytical thinker, problem solver, and enjoys working in a dynamic environment.
This is an 8-16-week temporary work opportunity beginning in May 2026. This role will work collaboratively with all departments and teams within Innovation Factory and reports to the Business Operations Specialist.
This position is available thanks to funding from Canada Summer Jobs which requires that eligible candidates are between the ages of 15 and 30 years old and either a Canadian Citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
Rate – $17.60/hour
At the end of your work term, you are required to complete the Canada Summer Job Survey. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
Core Responsibilities
- Researching information on the innovation ecosystem and providing updates and insights to the Innovation Factory team
- Assist in data collection, data analysis, and report creation
- Audit and update CRM entries to ensure accuracy and consistency across client records and program data.
- Provide support in documenting operational processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Assist the Business & Data Analyst with preparing monthly metrics and board reporting materials.
- Contribute to improving internal knowledge-sharing systems (e.g., updating shared folders, platforms, and resource libraries).
- Help streamline data collection workflows by identifying gaps and suggesting improvements.
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams on projects related to business operations (i.e., Marketing, Programs, Venture Growth, etc.)
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in or have completed a relevant post-secondary education, College diploma or University degree (For example, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Administration, Communication)
- Strong writing, research, data analysis, and project management skills
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft suite of software products – Office 365 (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Microsoft Teams), Google Suite of software products (Gmail, Google Drive, Gemini, etc.) and a custom CRM.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a confidential environment
- Ability to work accurately under tight timelines and manage multiple deadlines
- Knowledge and enthusiasm for Hamilton and Halton Region, the innovation sector, government and community organizations
- Experience using Microsoft Power platform (e.g. Power BI) would be considered an asset
- Exceptional planning, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Workflow optimization/automation experience
- Standard operating procedures development experience
Working Conditions
- 5 days per week; 37.5 hours per week, regular daytime business hours
- are between 9 am EST to 5 pm EST.
- Opportunity for a hybrid work model, allowing some remote work
- Some localized travel required.
