Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Software Development
Lead who brings a balance of
strong technical architecture skills, solid software development delivery
experience, and a mentorship style that empowers team members to deliver
exceptional results.
Reporting to the Director of Product
and Technology, you’ll play a key role in delivering new features across our web
platform while providing day-to-day technical leadership for a small team of
junior developers. You will be responsible for translating product requirements
into deliverable work, mentoring developers, maintaining engineering standards,
and helping evolve our development processes.
This is a hands-on role, with approximately
70–80% focused on software development and the remainder on technical
leadership, code quality, mentoring, and delivery.
$90,000 – $120,000 CAD per
annum.

Role and Responsibilities
·Design, build and deliver high-quality
full-stack applications using TypeScript, React, Next.js and PostgreSQL.
·Translate business requirements into technical
tasks, estimates and development plans, assigning work across the team where
appropriate.
·Provide technical leadership through
mentoring, code reviews and support for junior developers.
·Establish and maintain engineering best
practices, including automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and deployment
workflows.
·Participate in Agile delivery activities
including sprint planning, backlog refinement and regular progress reviews.
·Troubleshoot production issues, improve system
reliability and contribute to ongoing architectural and technical improvements.
·Promote a collaborative engineering culture
focused on quality, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
Requirements and Qualifications
·Degree in Computer Science, Software
Engineering or equivalent commercial experience.
·5+ years’ professional experience developing
modern web applications.
·Proven demonstrable experience integrating AI-assisted development tools into day-to-day software engineering workflows, using them to improve productivity, code quality, testing, documentation and overall delivery efficiency.
·Strong experience with TypeScript, JavaScript,
React and Next.js.
·Experience mentoring developers through code
reviews, technical guidance or team leadership.
·Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD
pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
·Experience implementing automated testing
strategies (unit, integration and end-to-end).
·Solid understanding of relational databases,
preferably PostgreSQL.
·Ability to translate business requirements
into technical solutions with minimal supervision.
·Strong communication skills and a
collaborative approach to working within a small development team.
