The City of Edmonton is seeking a motivated and skilled Landscape Technician I – Naturalization Initiatives to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the planning, monitoring, and management of naturalized areas within the City. You will contribute to the implementation of key City plans such as Greener as We Grow, the Urban Forestry Asset Management Plan, and Edmonton’s Community Energy Transition Strategy. This position is essential in supporting the City’s environmental goals, including planting 2 million new trees, achieving net zero per person GHG emissions, and increasing the City’s urban canopy. What will you do? – Select potential sites for naturalization, including conversion, volunteer, and contractor tree planting – Develop planting plans based on plant physiology, site conditions, and available resources – Oversee and inspect contract work related to naturalization, ensuring conformance to contracts and City standards – Monitor and track plant materials, perform site inspections, and update geospatial maps of assets – Respond to public and internal inquiries, provide education about Naturalization Initiatives, and review landscape plans
