Join WSP’s Canadian Legal team for a 12-month temporary assignment supporting operations across Canada, with a focus on the Transportation & Infrastructure sector. Based in Toronto or another major WSP location in Canada, you will provide practical, strategic legal guidance across the project life cycle and help teams pursue complex opportunities with clarity and confidence.

Your Impact

• Advise Canadian Operations on the negotiation, drafting and interpretation of contracts, with a focus on Transportation & Infrastructure.

• Guide project teams with strategic, timely legal advice throughout the full project life cycle.

• Draft and review legal documents, including WSP contract templates, commercial agreements and project-specific documentation.

• Review and help negotiate public and private RFPs and support service offers for major, strategic and alternative-delivery projects.

• Assess business opportunities and risk profiles, and present clear recommendations to internal risk committees for bid approval.

• Promote compliance with WSP’s authorization matrix, corporate policies, governance requirements, and applicable laws and regulations.

• Partner with the Claims & Litigation Team on contractual disputes and claims, and participate in internal and external stakeholder meetings.

• Support ongoing projects and the broader Legal Team with responsive legal advice in the normal course of business.

The Skills That Set You Apart

• Membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial bar.

• At least 5 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in-house, with exposure to transportation and infrastructure projects, construction, or engineering.

• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements in the construction or engineering industry.

• Experience with traditional and alternative delivery models, including collaborative agreements, progressive design-build, integrated project delivery, and related joint venture, teaming and partnering agreements.

• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical guidance for senior management, executives and multidisciplinary stakeholders.

• Strong business judgement, risk-management capability, conflict-resolution skills, and the ability to manage multiple urgent priorities.

• High degree of autonomy, initiative, organisation and attention to detail, combined with a collaborative legal-service mindset.

• Bilingualism in French and English is an asset; proficiency with Microsoft 365 is required. This hybrid role requires at least 3 days per week in the office.
