Reporting to a Clinical Pharmacist, the primary purpose of this position is to assist in performing technical duties in the Pharmacy Department.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a pharmacy certificate program and having a minimum of two years related working experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team environment
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated effective time management skills and the ability to prioritize
  • A skills test may be administered
  • A satisfactory record of work performance is required
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct

Duties and Responsibilities: (Include but not limited to):

  • Assisting pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in technical tasks of pharmacy operations including the preparation, storage and distribution of medication in an institutional pharmacy related to acute care and long-term care clients under the direct supervision of a pharmacist or pharmacy technician
  • Assisting in dispensing pharmaceuticals, re-stocking nursing units, filling prescriptions, ordering from pharmaceutical companies, compounding and record keeping.
  • Processing new prescription information and refill requests including associated on-line adjudication and/or manual billings.
  • Responsibilities in inventory maintenance and receiving
  • Repackaging medications for the ward stock and nursing home.
  • Third party billing.
  • Data collection and reporting
  • Clerical duties.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and to distinguish routine functions with those requiring professional judgment.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
