We are currently recruiting for the afternoon shift, Monday to Friday, from 3pm-11pm.

We are seeking a licensed Millwright (433A) to join our maintenance team in a meat processing/slaughter facility (pork products) as a Lead Hand. The Lead Hand Millwright is responsible for leading and supporting the maintenance team in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment within a fast-paced meat processing facility. This hands-on role ensures the reliable operation of production, slaughter, packaging, refrigeration, and material handling systems while promoting a safe, efficient, and compliant work environment. The Lead Hand Millwright coordinates daily maintenance activities, provides technical guidance to maintenance personnel, and works closely with production teams to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support millwrights and maintenance personnel during daily operations and maintenance activities
  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and emergency repairs
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on processing and packaging equipment
  • Inspect machinery for wear, damage, and operational issues
  • Lubricate, adjust, align, and replace machine components as required
  • Maintain maintenance records and documentation
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and equipment breakdowns
  • Repair or replace bearings, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, motors, chains, sprockets, hydraulic and pneumatic components
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns to minimize production downtime
  • Analyze recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Install new production, refrigeration, and packaging equipment
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Assemble and align machinery and production systems
  • Perform equipment upgrades and modifications to improve performance and reliability
  • Maintain conveyor systems used for carcass movement
  • Service slaughter and processing equipment, including hoists, saws, dehiders, and cutting systems
  • Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems throughout the facility
  • Support maintenance of refrigeration and material handling systems
  • Ability to TIG Weld proficiently
  • Ensure all food-processing equipment remains in good working condition and suitable for sanitation requirements
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and company safety policies
  • Maintain equipment guards and safety devices
  • Work in accordance with food safety standards such as HACCP and CFIA requirements
  • Participate in safety inspections and continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Millwright 433a License
  • Previous leadership or lead hand experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Work in hot, cold, wet, humid, and refrigerated environments
  • Lift and move heavy equipment and components up to 50lbs
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, or on elevated platforms when required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and team leadership skills
  • Must have own set of tools
