ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

NL Health Services – Central Zone is seeking a permanent full-time Family Medicine Physician for the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre in Harbour Breton, NL.

Central Zone is the second largest health zone in NL Health Services, serving approximately 90,000 people across 176 communities. The region extends from Charlottetown in the east, Fogo Island in the north, Harbour Breton in the south, to Baie Verte in the west — encompassing more than half the total land mass of the island of Newfoundland.

The successful candidate will provide Emergency, clinic, inpatient, and long-term care coverage at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre, divided equally among the physicians at this site. After-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call assignments are shared on an equitable basis. Additional income is generated through billings for Category B Emergency Room coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution
• Eligible for licensure as a Family Medicine Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
• Rural emergency experience considered an asset
• Must satisfy credentialing requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide Emergency, clinic, inpatient, and long-term care coverage at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Centre
• Share coverage equally among physicians at this site
• Participate in after-hours, weekend, and statutory holiday on-call coverage on an equitable basis
• Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of physicians and allied health professionals
• Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements

REMUNERATION

Remuneration is Fee-For-Service in accordance with the Medical Care Plan (MCP) guidelines for Category B Emergency Departments. Additional income is generated through billings for Category B Emergency Room coverage.

• Physician Signing Bonus — CAD 150,000 + CAD 25,000 top-up
• Physician Recruitment Incentive Pilot — CAD 200,000 (CAD 100,000 per year)
