Our Client

We’re hiring on behalf of a privately owned and industry leading construction company based on the outskirts of North Calgary, and we’re looking for an experienced Human Resources Generalist to help build and maintain the HR foundation that supports people and long‑term success.

The Opportunity

Reporting to Executive Leadership, you’ll serve as the company’s sole HR professional, responsible for implementing and managing the full range of human‑resources functions. This is a hands‑on, strategic role ideal for a driven HR professional who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, enjoys shaping process from the ground up, and wants to partner closely with leadership to influence culture and growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement HR policies, processes, and programs that enable scalability and compliance.
  • Partner with executives to align people strategy & programs with business objectives.
  • Lead full‑cycle recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives for technical and professional roles.
  • Coach managers on employee relations, performance management, and professional development.
  • Act as the main point of contact for employee HR enquiries
  • Oversee compensation management including annual planning, promotions, and rate changes.
  • Benefits administration including enrollment, terminations, audits and annual reviews.
  • Work closely with Payroll for notifications on leaves, hires, terminations and leave requests.
  • Align with Hiring Managers and relevant technical colleges on Apprenticeship Training.
  • Champion change‑management efforts supporting organizational growth and culture.
  • Ensure appropriate employment agreements are in place for all personnel including permanent and temporary personnel.
  • Maintain compliance with Alberta Employment Standards for all polices and employment contracts; coordinate compliance with Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS, and share key workforce metrics including engagement, turnover, and headcount with Leadership.
  • Foster a collaborative, safety‑focused, and innovative company culture.

What You Bring

  • 8+ years of progressive HR experience, including time as an HR Business Partner or equivalent strategic advisor.
  • Post‑secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience in building HR frameworks and scalable, fit for purpose solutions for growth minded businesses.
  • CPHR designation (or actively pursuing) is an asset.
  • Proven success operating as a stand‑alone HR professional or within a lean HR team.
  • Demonstrated experience building policies, processes, and systems to support growth.
  • Knowledge of Alberta employment legislation and HR best practices.
  • Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal, coaching, and consultative abilities.
  • Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and business‑minded with a genuine interest in operations.
