  • Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

  • Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off or 14 days on / 14 days off rotation (Day Shift)  
  • Work Location: This position is based at the True North Mine site. Camp accommodations and meals are provided during scheduled work rotations. Transportation to and from the mine site is coordinated from designated travel points.
  • Position Overview

    1911 Gold Corporation is seeking an Underground Mine Surveyor to join the Engineering team at the True North Mine in Bissett, Manitoba. The Mine Surveyor plays a critical role in supporting underground mining operations by providing accurate survey control, development layouts, and technical data required for safe and efficient mine development and production. This position works closely with the Engineering, Geology, and Operations teams to support mine planning, production activities, infrastructure development, and exploration programs.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and extending the mine’s survey control network, conducting underground and surface surveys, and ensuring that all survey data is accurate, timely, and properly documented to support operational decision-making.

    Key Responsibilities

    Underground Surveying & Mine Development

    • Maintain and extend the underground survey control network
    • Scan or survey active headings and provide line and grade for underground development
    • Set out mine design elements including stopes, lateral development, vertical development, production rings, and infrastructure
    • Mark up long-hole stopes and service holes
    • Provide survey support for production and exploration drilling activities

    Data Management & Technical Support

    • Update and distribute development layouts reflecting daily progress
    • Maintain accurate survey records and technical documentation
    • Update level plans within the Deswik survey module using appropriate text and symbols
    • Perform month-end survey reconciliation and reporting
    • Ensure accuracy of survey data to support optimal ore recovery and mine planning

    Advanced Survey & Monitoring

    • Perform drone-assisted cavity monitoring of stopes and raises
    • Conduct QA/QC verification of stopes using Gyro survey equipment
    • Perform drone scans and video inspections where required

    Surface & Infrastructure Surveys

    • Conduct surface surveys including dig plans, stockpile surveys, and dam crest measurements
    • Provide survey support for site infrastructure projects and construction activities
    • Assist consultants and contractors working on infrastructure assessments and improvements

    Equipment & Safety

    • Maintain survey equipment in good working condition and report damage or loss
    • Develop and maintain standardized survey workflow documentation
    • Support training of new survey personnel as required
    • Periodically assist ventilation technicians in completing weekly ventilation surveys and reports

    Qualifications

    Preferred Education

    • Mining Technician Diploma or equivalent technical training

    Experience

    • Minimum 5+ years of underground mine surveying experience
    • Strong understanding of underground mining practices and survey principles

     Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Strong knowledge of underground mine surveying techniques
    • Experience with survey hardware including total stations, drones, and gyro survey equipment.
    • Experience with mine planning and survey software (Deswik preferred)
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
    • Ability to analyze technical data and propose solutions
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills
    • Ability to work independently in a remote mining environment

    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

    • Ability to lift moderately heavy survey equipment
    • Comfortable working underground and outdoors in varying weather conditions
