Position Overview

1911 Gold Corporation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sample Preparation Technician who will be responsible for the safe, accurate, and timely preparation of geological ore, and metallurgical samples for analysis.

This role supports exploration, grade control, process plant, and metallurgical programs by ensuring sample integrity is maintained throughout receiving, drying, crushing, splitting, pulverizing, labeling, and documentation processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Unpack, sort, check, transfer and dry samples.
  • Execute and perform crushing, pulverizing and screening of mill, mine and geological materials as per Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized workbench area ensuring spills are immediately cleaned.
  • Ensure that equipment is maintained in good order making the Supervisor or group leader aware of any damaged or defective equipment or any equipment requiring adjustment i.e. pulverising time or crushers gapping.
  • Basic understanding of the electronic computer sample database.
  • Operate and monitor sample preparation equipment such as ovens, jaw crushers, riffle splitters, pulverisers, and balances.
  • Safely follow standard operating procedures and perform quality control checks as required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Required Experience & Skill Set

  •  Highschool completion or equivalent is required.
  • Knowledge of sample preparation techniques for geological samples and process plant samples.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS and first aid.
  • Able to operate a personal computer and associated peripherals, including printers and bar-code scanners.
  • Able to safely work alone with flammable and toxic chemicals, as well as environmental hazards, e.g., dust, noise, and temperature and humidity extremes
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment or individually.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization skills, managing, tracking, and recording multiple tasks and a heavy workload.
