Position Overview

1911 Gold Corporation is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Mill Laborer who is responsible for performing various tasks around the mill. The mill laborer will assist operators and maintenance personnel as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping/clean-up of mill waste and scrap material during peak times; sweep floors and shovel dust and waste material; blow down buildings, including roof areas; identify critical equipment and protect it from water damage when washing down; wash down buildings inside and out with plant-service water systems and high-pressure mobile systems.
• Provide assistance to mill operations personnel as directed by Supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with all established policies and standard operating procedures and advises coworkers and visitors of such policies and procedures as required.
• Assist with organization of mill area as requested.
• Communicate effectively with other laborers, colleagues and supervisor about assigned tasks and ensuring carryover and updates of completed tasks throughout the shift.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of environmental risks and hazards as well as complies with safety policies and procedures and ensures daily workplace inspections are done in order to accurately identify and correct workplace hazards.
• Inspect the workplace for potential safety problems.
• Troubleshoot the circuit equipment and provide maintenance personnel with information on conditions through the Work Order System or discussion.
• Be familiar with function, inspection, and maintenance of mill equipment.
• Clean up duties as assigned.
• Be familiar with and apply Lock Out & Confined Space Entry Procedures where and when required.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Required Experience & Skill Set

• Must be physically fit and capable of working long hours on their feet and in all weather conditions.
• Capable of wearing PPE including; hard hat, respirator, safety glasses, steel toed boots, hearing protection, or any other Personal Protective Equipment
• Must be capable of working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Must be able to work with minimum supervision once familiar with requirements.
• Must be willing to comply with all applicable 1911 Gold policies and procedures.
• Must maintain a high degree of situational awareness and safe work practices.
• Be highly motivated.
• Able to follow directions.
• Be a team player.
• Work outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions.
• A desire to advance to higher levels by training and becoming proficient at specific tasks and duties in the Mill Operations department.
