Position Overview

 1911 Gold Corporation is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assay Lab Technician who will be responsible for supporting the preparation and analysis of mineral samples using fire assay techniques. This role involves performing various laboratory procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and workplace organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, log, and store samples in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Experience operating a variety of laboratory instruments, (AAS, ICP).
  • Prepare samples, reagents, standards, and solutions for analysis, including dilutions, standardizations, digestions, filtrations, and extractions as required.
  • Operate, verify, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment such as balances, pipettes, ovens, hot plates, pH meters, conductivity meters, and spectrophotometers.
  • Accurately record observations, calculations, and analytical results in laboratory notebooks, worksheets, or laboratory information systems.
  • Support quality control activities, including blanks, duplicates, standards, spikes, and control samples, to ensure data integrity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling, labeling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and laboratory waste.
  • Assist with inventory management, reagent preparation schedules, consumable tracking, and routine laboratory housekeeping.
  • Communicate effectively with team members regarding workload, priorities, turnaround times, and technical issues.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 Required Experience & Skill Set

  • Diploma, bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Technology, or equivalent.
  • 1 year laboratory experience.
  • Familiarity with standard wet chemistry techniques, sample preparation, and good documentation practices.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform basic calculations, prepare solutions accurately, and interpret routine analytical data.
