With more companies making moves to head back to the office, leaders can’t expect the workplace to be as it once was. Especially as hybrid models are adopted and some employees remain fully remote, employers must be equipped to keep their people engaged and happy.
So, we sought out all the ways you can reward your employees for the great work they do. Below is a list of five things you can easily implement into your workplace to show your people the appreciation they deserve.
1. Be vocal
Let’s start with the obvious. Saying a simple “thank you” can be the first step in making employee appreciation a habit rather than something that may only be celebrated on occasion.

Giving your team genuine recognition for their work can go a long way – but don’t stop at telling them in private! At Employment Hero, we make an effort to acknowledge our team members during meetings, in company-wide slack groups, and well, whenever it makes sense.
2. Vamp up recognition programs
Employees want to know that their efforts are seen and a great recognition program can be the perfect avenue. We’re talking beyond annual or quarterly reviews, because there’s a lot more you can do to keep employees engaged and motivated.
Strong recognition programs have the potential to boost productivity, retain top talent, and in turn, increase customer satisfaction. Some formal examples include employee of the month and top performance awards, whereas more casual, unstructured additions can be gamified recognition like badging and achievements or using a point system to reward top performers.

3. Give constant feedback
When consistent, thoughtful feedback is given often, employee strengths are celebrated and opportunities to learn and grow are acknowledged. Employees want an honest assessment of their performance, so knowing how to do it right can be transformative in their personal and professional development.
Be specific by providing tangible examples, keep it timely by not waiting for performance appraisals, and make it a two-way conversation. Take the time to engage your employee and check for their understanding.

Transparency facilitates trust and trust leads to building better relationships and ultimately more connected teams. Focus on the partnership aspect of improving rather than “this is what you’re doing wrong” and you’re bound to lead your people to do their best work.
4. Be flexible
Especially as many of our workplaces now reside in our homes and personal space, allowing your team to work when they want can make all the difference in their ability to do great work.

5. Offer them a free wellness program
Empowering your team to build physical and mindful foundations, while engaging them at a whole new level of health is a great way to show you care.
