About Stake Glass
Stake Glass is a leading glass supplier and glass processor in New Zealand, based in Christchurch. As a locally owned and operated company, their team of qualified experts manufactures all sorts of glass products, from double-glazing units to safety glass.
The company is moving fast, supplying both commercial and residential operations across the country. It requires a lot of their 65-person team, from those leading client relations to those working in their glass factory.
When it comes to managing that team, Stake Glass has the support of Employment Hero. We spoke to their Recruitment and Culture Coordinator, about their experience with our HR platform.
Employment Hero has led to…
Stronger communications
A great company culture can make a huge difference to all aspects of a business, whether that’s team morale or productivity. One of their priorities in bringing on Employment Hero was to improve the communications at Stake Glass, and she’s found the Company Feed an invaluable tool to do just that.
The Company Feed is a space for leaders and teammates to shout out work well done and announce the latest updates. In just a few short months, there’s been 22 posts on the Stake Glass Company Feed, as company leaders take the opportunity to use this channel as the home of internal communications.
Their Recruitment and Culture Coordinator has noticed a marked difference now that employees are across the latest news, saying, “our employees feel better in the workplace when they receive regular communications from the leadership team.”
Stake Glass team members have also enjoyed using the feature.
“One of our employees has said that the Company Feed is so much better to use than our previous channel on Facebook.
“That’s because it’s much more professional and the team can easily separate work and personal updates.”
Internal events
With the Company Feed proving a hit at Stake Glass, they were keen to figure out other ways in which she could leverage the tool. One was getting the company engaged in an awareness campaign for the first time ever.
“We engaged in Mental Health Awareness Week, using the Company Feed to communicate messages to the whole organisation.”
The Feed supports various types of posting, including multimedia, and employees can react to and comment on posts. This proved useful for that week – and will continue to for the awareness campaigns to come.
“We even hosted a fun activity and shared a highlight video of the internal event, using Employment Hero.”
A new vision for performance reviews
There’s plenty more Employment Hero features that the team at Stake is keen to use to support them even further. At the moment, she is preparing for 2024, leveraging the performance review tools, which she thinks will make a huge difference in managing performance and recognition.
“The transparency and visibility that employees have over their annual performance appraisal within the system is great. Both employees and managers can prepare before the meeting by writing comments, and the other person can see this.”
She’s enthusiastic about what this will mean for Stake Glass in the near future, saying, “we envision that this clarity will enable employees to have better focus and direction on their goals throughout the years. That should lead to improved performance and recognition to follow.”
