The Position

The Community Mental Health Worker supports participants in the qathet Complex Care Housing (CCH) program by assisting with daily living, encouraging life skills development, and providing emotional and practical support in alignment with multidisciplinary care plans. The role contributes to participant stability and well-being by building therapeutic relationships, supporting harm reduction and trauma-informed practices, and collaborating with healthcare and community partners to strengthen housing and recovery outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 plus one (1) year of recent experience in harm reduction.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care and harm reduction practices.
  • Experience in community healthcare settings.
  • Valid BC driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check clearance.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction and trauma-informed practice.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.

Skills

  • Strong ability to build therapeutic, respectful relationships with clients and families

  • Knowledge of person-centered care planning and multidisciplinary team collaboration
  • Experience supporting daily living skills and promoting client independence
  • Ability to monitor client well-being and safely administer medications
  • Skilled in documentation, record keeping, and information sharing
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and client-centered service delivery
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, violence prevention, and infection control practices
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic, client-focused environment

Working Condition and Physical Requirements

  • Provides direct support to individuals with complex needs in community and housing settings.
  • May be exposed to stressful or unpredictable situations; adherence to safety protocols is required.
  • Requires flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.
