Role Type
Description
Accounts Payable Officer
Walter Findlay Ltd
Gisborne
The Findlay Group has been commercially baking bread in Gisborne since 1913, and we are now in our 4th generation of family ownership with the 5th generation already in the business. The bakery is what we are known for locally, but it is only half the story: we also manufacture food coatings – predusts, batters and breadings – across sites in New Zealand, Australia and the USA, employing around 200 people worldwide.
For an accounts payable professional, that means working across more than a single ledger: suppliers in three countries, multiple entities, and payment runs that keep our local bakery and factories operating. If you take pride in accurate, well-reconciled work and want to build your skills in a group environment, this role is worth a closer look.
The role
You will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work alongside a small, supportive finance team, providing accurate and reliable accounts payable support across the Findlay Group entities. It is a busy and varied role, and an important one – accurate processing keeps suppliers paid, relationships strong and month-end on track.
What you will do
- Process supplier invoices for our NZ and Australian entities, and support our US business as required
- Run payment runs via batch files and transfers, coordinating timing across the group
- Reconcile supplier statements and support bank reconciliations where required
- Process employee expense claims and credit card statements
- Resolve supplier queries and assist with month-end accruals and journals
- Ensure compliance with company policy, purchasing procedures and GST, and help improve our processes
What you will bring
- Experience in accounts payable or accounting support, including high-volume invoice processing and supplier reconciliations
- A high level of accuracy and strong organisational skills
- Good communication skills and a professional, collaborative approach
- Sound Excel skills and confidence using financial systems
- Integrity, discretion and a willingness to learn
What we offer
- Multi-entity exposure across New Zealand, Australia and the USA
- A small, supportive finance team
- A family-owned business guided by its values of Sustainability, Commitment, Integrity and Community
- Health insurance after 3 months employment
- Free bread daily
- A paid day off on your birthday!
If you do not meet every requirement, we would still encourage you to apply. If you are detail-focused, dependable and ready for your next step in finance, we would like to hear from you.
Closing Date: 5:00pm Friday 23 October 2026
We review applications as they arrive and may appoint before the closing date, so we encourage you to apply early.
