Description

About us

GymMaster is a global SaaS company supporting gyms, dojos, wellness centres and more across 90+ countries. Founded and based in Christchurch, we’re known for being customer-first: delivering exceptional service and continually improving our product. We’re growing quickly, and we’ve recently moved to a regional operating model so our teams can take ownership and solve problems for our customers.

While we work hard, we have a relatively casual and fun company culture, with company events historically having included laser tag, Nerf gun battles, scavenger hunts, quiz nights, and of course, the odd Friday afternoon drinks.

The role

Most of our business now sits within regions, but marketing works globally, alongside each of our Regional General Managers. We give the sales team a strong pipeline of leads, tell our story, grow our brand, and help customers find and understand what we do.

You’ll work closely with the Marketing Manager across SEO/GEO, paid search and social, content and event planning. Your main focus will be establishing and owning our organic social media strategy, while contributing heavily to content (blogs and email) and graphic design.

This is a new role in a growing department that’s critical to our success, with multiple paths to progress as the team and business develop. Success is shared across the team, so you’ll be supported by colleagues who are invested in your growth.

What you’ll do

Social media (organic)

  • Plan, create, and schedule engaging content across our social channels (Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Engage with our community by monitoring and responding to comments and messages
  • Track performance and share insights on what’s working and what to try next

 Design support

  • Create on-brand graphics and imagery which may be used across socials, blogs, website, email and events
  • Support the Marketing Manager with layouts, presentations and campaign visuals
  • Help maintain brand consistency across all channels

Content creation

  • Contribute content and design to blog posts and email newsletters
  • Support ad hoc and ongoing campaigns across paid, SEO and content as they come up

Continuous improvement

  • Gain exposure across paid search, paid social, organic, AI visibility and events, with the chance to specialise in the areas that suit you best
  • Share ideas, test new approaches, and feed what you learn back to the Marketing Manager and wider team
  • Keep developing your skills through training, feedback and knowledge-sharing

What success looks like

Our social channels, emails and content are consistent, on-brand and published on time, with KPIs around channel growth and engagement

  • Your design and content work is visually polished and clearly written
  • You spot opportunities, suggest ideas and follow through
  • The Marketing Manager gets timely support on ad hoc projects

Who we’re looking for

Primarily, someone with a strong foundation in design who’s keen to build their understanding of wider marketing. You might be fresh out of tertiary study, or a few years into a career in marketing, design, videography or content (any of these, not all!).

We aren’t looking for someone who ticks every box. What matters most is a foundation in design, content or social media, and a genuine desire to learn and grow beyond that.

  What we’re really looking for

  • Curiosity about how marketing works, and openness to feedback
  • A creative streak and a good eye for design, even if you’re self-taught or your experience comes from personal projects
  • Clear, confident writing and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organisation and time management, with the ability to juggle several things at once
  • A collaborative mindset and a willingness to contribute to a positive, supportive team culture

 Helpful but not required

  • Experience in a marketing, communications or content role, or relevant study or project work
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or Figma
  • Experience managing social media channels (personal or professional)
  • Basic photo or video editing skills
  • Understanding of analytics tools (Google Analytics, social insights)
  • Experience in SaaS or a technology-focused environment
  • Knowledge of the fitness industry or gym operations

 What you’ll get

  • Central city location in new award-winning offices
  • Genuine support and opportunities to grow and progress within the company
