Description

Fixed-Term Duty Manager – Summer | Te Anau

The Fat Duck Restaurant is a popular, award-winning gastropub in Te Anau, on the doorstep of Fiordland National Park. With world-class outdoor activities (and a pretty spectacular lake) just outside, it’s a great place to spend the summer.

We’re looking for a Duty Manager to join us for the summer on a fixed-term basis, working 30–40 hours per week until April next year.

Already an experienced Duty Manager? Great. Ready to step up into your first management role? We’d like to hear from you too.

We need an all-rounder who is comfortable on the floor, behind the Maître d’ desk or working as a floor manager and helping lead a busy service. You’ll know how to make customers smile, look after the people around you and keep your cool when things get busy.

We take our work seriously, but that doesn’t mean we don’t enjoy ourselves along the way. We believe in working hard, working smart and being part of a great team.

What we offer

  • Competitive remuneration
  • Industry-leading training and professional development
  • A genuine opportunity to grow your hospitality career
  • Great systems and the latest hospitality technology
  • A professional, supportive and encouraging workplace
  • Assistance with relocation costs and finding accommodation if needed
  • Dinner service only – although we’re open 7 days over summer

Who we’re looking for

Personality is key. We want someone who:

  • Goes the extra mile for customers and looks after their team
  • Can think on their feet and keep up with a busy service
  • Is organised, reliable and a strong communicator
  • Is comfortable learning and using digital hospitality systems
  • Has solid restaurant experience and is ready to take on responsibility
  • Holds a current GM Certificate or LCQ
  • Can work opening and closing shifts and weekends

The role

You’ll work a mix of Manager and floor shifts, including running the Maître d’ desk and working as Floor Manager.

You’ll help with the day-to-day running of the restaurant, including training team members, reservations and functions, opening and closing procedures, maintaining our operating standards and keeping service running smoothly.

As you grow into the role, there’ll also be opportunities to get involved in our systems and processes, managers’ meetings, menu planning and financial targets if you wish to learn more.

So, if you’re an experienced Duty Manager looking for a great summer in Fiordland or you’re a strong hospitality person ready for your next step, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: Applicants must currently be in New Zealand and already have the right to work in New Zealand. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor work visas for this position.
