Invercargill, Southland 9810, New Zealand • Part-time

Role Type

On-site • Permanent • Part-time • Entry Level

Description

Got a head for numbers and keen to find out what accountants actually do all day? This one’s for you.

We’re on the hunt for a Year 12 or 13 student who’s keen to get started in the accounting industry, with a real, behind-the-scenes look at life in a public practice accounting firm. You’ll work alongside our team after school, jumping into whatever’s on: admin, filing, errands, and general support. No two days will look the same.

Think of it as the start of an earn-while-you-learn pathway. You’ll pick up real skills, get to know our people, our clients, and how we work, and for the right person, it could grow into something bigger: a fulltime role once you’ve finished school, alongside study towards a Bachelor of Accounting at SIT.

ABOUT YOU

  • Currently in Year 12 or 13
  • Happy to get stuck into admin, filing, or errands, and to ask when you’re not sure
  • Reliable, punctual, and quick to let us know if something changes
  • Keen to build experience and skills for your CV
  • Ideally, have a genuine interest in accounting and want to learn more about the industry

HOURS

Ideally 3.30pm to 5.00pm, 5 days a week, but there’s flexibility to make this 3–4 days around sport, study, or other commitments.

SOUND LIKE YOU?

Send us two things to apply:

  • Your CV
  • A short video (max 2 minutes) telling us: what’s got you interested in accounting or numbers, and what you’re hoping to get out of this role

Send your video to graced@mdp.co.nz . Keep it brief and be yourself; we’re just as interested in how you communicate as what you say.

WHY MCINTYRE DICK

This isn’t just an afterschool job. You’ll get real support and mentoring from people who actually want to see you do well, a learning and development plan built around what you want to achieve, and if a career in accounting is on the cards, we’ll help cover the cost of your tertiary study. It’s not all work either: think team events, sports teams, and a fun team to work alongside. We’re proudly Southland-based, backing local businesses and this region, and we’re serious about where we’re heading. Come be part of it.
