Ghella | Project Engineer

An incredible opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our newest tunnelling project, the Herne Bay Collector, located at Point Erin in Auckland’s’ CBD.

About the project

The Herne Bay Collector is located adjacent to the Waitematā Harbour, the new infrastructure will significantly reduce wastewater and stormwater overflows into the environment. The project consists of a 1.7km-long, 2.1m-diameter wastewater tunnel, seven main shafts, three intermediate shafts, overflow connections to existing engineered overflow points, and a control chamber at Pt Erin Park in Auckland. This chamber will connect the Herne Bay Collector into the Central Interceptor system, forming part of Auckland’s wider wastewater network.

About the role

  • Plan, organise, manage and coordinate the successful completion of allocated packages of work, and management of teams
  • Manage the safety, quality, environmental, time and budget requirements of packages
  • Preparation of safety, quality and environmental plans, including SWMS, construction method statements, Risk Assessments, ITPs, Cost Control/Forecasting and Purchasing Plans
  • Preparation of programming of site activities
  • Liaise and coordinate with our client, stakeholders and service providers
  • Review and check all drawings, instructions and documentation
  • Monitor works to ensure that they are carried out in a safe manner in line with all relevant temporary works designs, specifications and, methodologies
  • Regularly capture progress of works using InEight and Aconex
  • Monitor, track and assess subcontractor, supplier and plant and equipment

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Project Engineering in the civil infrastructure sector, preferably in large scale projects
  • Proven track record of successfully managing engineering projects
  • Construction site administration, including the compilation of ITP’s and continual monitoring 
  • Experience with wastewater infrastructure and reinforced concrete structures preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in project management software and engineering tools
  • Health and Safety focused, with knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards
  • Proficient in MS Project and Excel and strong administration capabilities
  • Positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork
  • Innovative thinker and committed to continuous improvement
  • Good communicator, clear, concise and easily understood both in written and verbal form
