Description

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Payroll & Finance Administrator to join our Finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract, covering parental leave.

Based at our Whangarei Head Office, this role plays an important part in keeping our payroll and accounts payable functions running smoothly across our group of companies. This is a 30-hour per week role, with some flexibility around how those hours are structured.

You’ll be joining a small, capable Finance team where accuracy, reliability, and a willingness to pitch in are genuinely valued.

What You’ll Be Doing

Payroll

  • Processing weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time
  • Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers
  • Preparing payroll information and reports
  • Working with the wider business to make sure timesheets and leave are correct

 Accounts Payable

  • Entering supplier invoices and reconciling statements
  • Preparing and processing supplier payments
  • Following up with suppliers and internal teams to sort out queries
  • Supporting purchasing processes and the use of purchase orders

Finance & Administration Support

  • Assisting the Finance team with transactional processing and reporting
  • Providing general office administration support as required, including managing office supplies, mail, and the main phone line

About You

We’re mainly looking for someone with the right attitude and approach, who takes ownership of their work and enjoys being part of a team.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Some payroll experience (this doesn’t need to be extensive, but confidence with payroll processes will really help)
  • Experience or capability in accounts payable processing
  • Strong attention to detail and a genuine care for getting things right
  • Good communication skills and a practical, professional approach
  • The ability to manage your workload and meet regular deadlines
  • Confidence using Excel and learning new systems (Greentree experience is a bonus)
