Transcelestial’s vision is to improve the connectivity experience for the next billion people. We believe that connectivity is a human right, and Transcelestial is on a mission to solve the problem of internet distribution and provide affordable, high-speed internet to everyone.
Transcelestial’s next-generation wireless laser communication technology is one of the most effective solutions in the distribution of high-quality, high-speed internet connectivity, making it well-poised to solve civilization’s long-term communication needs – and ultimately improve connectivity for 1 billion users globally.
Highly reliable and secure, its light-weight, shoe-box sized CENTAURI device leverages its proprietary laser technology to create a wireless distribution network and can be quickly, easily and cost-effectively installed on any standard telecom pole or tower at a faster time-to-market than standard fiber-optic cable.
Over the longer-term, Transcelestial aims to develop a constellation of small satellites positioned in Low Earth Orbit, allowing their laser network to not only beam across cities but upwards to connect continents across the world too.

The Role
Transcelestial is seeking a high-energy, hands-on Manufacturing Lead to spearhead the production of our Centauri FSO Laser Terminals. As we scale our groundbreaking wireless laser communication technology, we seek a leader who can bring our production environment to the next level as a world-class, high-efficiency manufacturing powerhouse.
This isn’t a “desk-bound” management role. You will be expected to master the assembly and test processes yourself to truly understand the nuances of our hardware, before optimizing the workflow.
—
The Manufacturing Lead is responsible for the daily operation of the Centauri manufacturing line, including continuous quality and process improvement, production planning and supply chain monitoring Transcelestial. This position is part of the Hardware Team, led by Max, Transcelestial’s Head of Hardware Engineering. This position will also interact with Transcelestial’s hardware, manufacturing procurement, and software design teams to assist with the overall quality and cost management.
As a Manufacturing Lead, you will:
-
Operational Excellence: Lead daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production delivery targets are met while maintaining a rigorous focus on safety and quality.
-
Process Engineering: Design, implement, and refine structured workflows to ensure order in the manufacturing line.
-
Quality Control: Establish and enforce strict quality standards and inspection points to ensure every Centauri unit meets industrial-grade reliability.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the bridge between production and our Software and Hardware Engineering teams to facilitate Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and rapid troubleshooting.
-
Supply Chain & Planning: Monitor material flow, manage inventory levels, and lead production planning to prevent bottlenecks. Work with procurement and finance to ensure inventory tracking and accounting is accurate and timely.
-
Continuous Improvement: Utilize Lean or Six Sigma methodologies to relentlessly drive out waste and increase throughput.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physics, Optics, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical disciplines with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- “Builder” Mentality: Proven experience taking an early-stage or unstructured manufacturing line and implementing rigorous process and quality controls.
- Prior experience working with mass manufacturing lines
- Hands-on Technical Depth: You aren’t afraid to pick up tools. You must have deep experience in complex assembly and sophisticated testing environments.
- Engineering Collaboration: Ability to speak the language of hardware and software engineers to resolve technical blockers on the floor.
- Supply Chain Savvy: Experience in monitoring supply chains and managing production schedules in a high-growth environment.
- Leadership: A track record of mentoring production technicians and fostering a culture of precision and accountability.
- Practical experience in ISO 9001 and quality management, developing and rolling out standard operating procedures and executing metrics & measurement programs (Six Sigma Black Belt with proven experience is a plus).
- Experience implementing, managing, and using Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) or ERP systems such as MRPEasy, SAP, NetSuite
- Flexible and collaborative, willing to work in a fast-paced product and technology development environment.
It is a bonus if you:
- Ability to communicate in Mandarin Chinese, with local and regional suppliers.
- Experience in implementing ISO 9001
- Experience in product development
- Proficiency in CAD software like Solidworks.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
- Be part of a high-performing team working on groundbreaking technology
- Earn a competitive salary and stock options package
- Company-provided Macbook Laptop (or Windows, if you prefer)
- “Unlimited” Annual Leave
- Comprehensive, top-tier medical benefits
- Daily lunch allowance (in-office)
- Free coffee and snacks
- Monthly “Nerd” fund for professional development
