Description

Who are we?

In the context of the multi-partner project NH3SOFC, which is part of Singapore’s CREATE investment in Decarbonisation https://www.nrf.gov.sg/files/Media_Release_CREATE_Decarbonisation_Challenge_with_ANNEX_A__B_final.pdf a large number of positions have become available to research of hydrogen and ammonia fuels.

The project is a collaborative effort between CARES, NTU, and ICL. All the positions are held in Singapore and will normally last at least 1 year in the first instance, with the possibility of extension if funding is available. The position will need a strong background in electrochemistry, materials science, chemistry, and materials physics.

This position will support leading-edge research in the fields of small molecule electrocatalysis for electrolysis and fuel cells. The project will focus on the investigation of the relation between solid-state properties of catalysts and their performance. It also includes the development of new electrode materials. This job will provide day-to-day support for the research team, and depending upon experience. The successful candidate can expect to undertake open-ended research projects under the research team’s supervision.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking highly motivated researchers in the fields of materials and chemistry to work with us, with the following requirements

• A PhD degree in Chemistry, Physics, Solid-state physics, electrochemistry, Materials Science, or the similar

• Strong analytical and conceptual abilities

• Ability to work independently or in a team in the realization of the R&D work

• Ability to publish conference/journal papers

• Ability and willingness to train and advice graduate on relevant procedures

• Regular reports and good documentation of work are expected

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English

• Strong research experience in electrocatalysis, catalyst development in fuel cells, materials chemistry.

• Strong ability to work as team member in supporting experimental research

• Strong independent research ability

What skills will you need?

The position requires a PhD or equivalent research experience in electrocatalysis and solid state materials. The strong motivation to work in a multi-national collaborative team, and extensive experience with report writing, journal publications, and presentations to academic and industrial settings. Connections with industry are part of the project so the researchers will have the opportunity to collaborate with industrial R&D. The experimental positions need strict adherence to Health & Safety protocols and experience in developing experimental facilities at a professional level.

What can we offer you?

• A stimulating working environment with friendly, highly motivated colleagues.

• Opportunities to develop and implement new ideas in a creative environment.
