The People and Work Place
Code of Conduct
These Codes of Conduct are current as March 18, 2020.
I. Code of practice
The purpose of this code of conduct is to help our community members communicate with one another openly and without fear of anti-social behaviour, harassment, spam or aggression. We ask that everyone respect the code of conduct and notify a moderator if they feel that the code of conduct has been breached.
The People and Work Place is a place for HR and people managers to connect and discuss the impact of COVID-19 on their business and their employees. If you disagree with any of the following statements, The People and Work Place might not be the right forum for you:
COVID-19 is a highly contagious virus that has the potential to kill many people, especially those who are most vulnerable (including the elderly and immunocompromised).
We all have a civic duty to protect the community from the spread of COVID-19 and flatten the curve through social distancing.
Working from home or remotely where possible should be encouraged. Our challenge as employers is to facilitate this with as little disruption to our business as possible.
The People and Work Place has been created to help Australian employers overcome this challenge. We recognise there are a lot of unanswered questions but hope that by using our shared experiences and resources, we can help our employees be as happy, productive and engaged at home as they are at work.
The People and Work Place is an open forum for all of those who are in the realm of people management, regardless of age, ability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.
Failure to follow the community guidelines may result in your ban and removal from the community (and nobody wants that).
II. Code of Conduct
1. Be Respectful and Considerate
The People and Work Place is a place for people managers to share their experiences, opinions and ideas openly. Please keep in mind that some people managers may have different levels of experience or backgrounds than your own; all experiences and backgrounds are welcome here.
Please be considerate and respectful in your interactions. Be civil and professional, don’t post offensive or abusive content and don’t harass other members. Please refrain from posting politically-motivated commentary or sharing medical advice that disputes the scientific findings of the World Health Organisation.
There will be disagreements on certain issues or topics; we encourage this! Seeing other perspectives is an excellent way to come to a new or more nuanced understanding of a certain issue. If you disagree with another member’s perspective, please do so respectfully. Put yourself in their shoes before you respond—how would you like someone to respond if they disagreed with you?
2. Contribute Constructively
With such diverse experiences and backgrounds, we all have different contributions to offer the community. Please keep submissions relevant and on topic; if you’re unable to add to the discussion, is it necessary to respond? If you disagree with another member, identify what aspects of their comment or submission you disagree with (and avoid personal attacks altogether).
If you are sharing information or resources via hyperlinks, please ensure that they are relevant and appropriate to The People and Work Place community and the topic at hand. Sharing unsolicited irrelevant or offensive links may be considered spam and could result in your ban or removal from The People and Work Place.
3. Be Authentic
We are all here to learn more about people management from one another, regardless of experience or background. The People and Work Place is a community of people management professionals seeking guidance around COVID-19 and other pressing HR and people management issues. We ask that you join and contribute with this in mind.
4. Behave
The following behaviours and/or posts will result in either a temporary or permanent ban from The People and Work Place community, subject to the moderators’ and Employment Hero’s discretion:
- Threats of violence
- Hate speech or discrimination
- Inciting panic
- Bullying or harassment
- Impersonation
- Sexually explicit content
- Spam or marketing posts – The People and Work Place is NOT an opportunity to generate sales. Its purpose is to connect HR managers to one another in a time of uncertainty and to provide guidance related to COVID-19.
- Copyrighted or illegal content (as your own)
- Roles or job vacancies
5. Moderating and Reporting
Moderators will moderate the forum regularly, but don’t have eyes in the back of our heads. If you see something that you think violates our code of conduct, please report it by either tagging Employment Hero or sending a screenshot to info@employmenthero.com.
Please do not respond to negative or inappropriate posts—don’t feed the trolls!
6. Our Promise to the Community
Employment Hero will moderate the community regularly. Where appropriate, we may delete content that violates our code of conduct, or either temporarily or permanently ban members who violate our code of conduct. This is at the discretion of Employment Hero, and when required, we will communicate why a post or member has been removed.
If at any time you would like to contact the moderators or Employment Hero regarding this forum, please email info@employmenthero.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
