About us:
Woodford House, a leading special character, state-integrated, boarding and day school for Year 7 – 13 girls, in Hawke’s Bay is seeking to appoint a fixed term, part time (0.5 FTTE), Kaiako Māori to join our passionate kaimahi for Terms 1 – 3 in 2027. We nurture each girl who walks through our doors so that her light shines through and shines brighter.
About the role:
We are seeking a Kaiako to deliver our te reo Māori classes from Year 7 – 13 to cover a period of parental leave. This fixed term, part time (0.5 FTTE) role would suit a beginner or experienced Teacher, there is plenty of scope to support our cultural competency and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi across the cultural cornerstone of the school. The kaimahi and students at Woodford House are dedicated, ready learners.
About you:
- Registration with the Teaching Council of New Zealand, or ability to obtain it,
- A relevant teaching or other qualification,
- Knowledge and appreciation of te ao Māori, and te reo Māori.
- Capability to engage in cultural activities (e.g. Mihi Whakatau, Pōwhiri, Kaupapa Māori) and has an understanding of Āhuatanga Māori (values, culture and tikanga), is desirable
- A willingness to meet our future-focused learning goals,
- High level communication and interpersonal skills, and
- A commitment to our school’s Special Character.
