Expression of Interest – Swim Instructors & Lifeguards

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can work with our community and be part of a fun and supportive team? We’re seeking expressions of interest for Swim Instructors and Lifeguards to join the team at the Waitaki Aquatic Centre on a part-time or casual basis.

About the Roles:

Swim Instructors

As a Swim Instructor, you’ll deliver engaging swimming lessons and aquatic activities for people of all ages, helping participants develop their skills and confidence in the water. Your role will involve:

  • Delivering safe, engaging, and enjoyable swimming lessons
  • Supporting participants with different abilities and learning needs
  • Creating a positive and welcoming environment
  • Working alongside the wider Aquatic Centre team to provide a great experience for our community.

Lifeguards

As a Lifeguard, you’ll play an important role in keeping our customers safe and helping ensure the Aquatic Centre runs smoothly. Your role will involve:

  • Supervising pool areas and responding effectively when assistance is required
  • Providing friendly and helpful customer service
  • Supporting programmes, events, and day-to-day operations
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, cleanliness, and presentation throughout the facility.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for friendly, reliable people who enjoy working with others and contributing to a positive team environment. Depending on the role, we’re seeking people who:

  • Are confident working with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • Have strong communication and customer service skills
  • Have an interest in swimming, recreation, fitness, and community wellbeing
  • Are committed to providing a safe and positive experience for our customers
  • Hold a recognised Swim Teacher or Pool Lifeguard qualification, or are willing to gain this on the job
  • Hold a current First Aid Certificate or are willing to obtain one.
