About the Opportunity

Due to continued growth, we’re looking for an experienced Senior 3D Multimedia Specialist to join our Christchurch production team.

This is a senior, hands-on production role for someone with strong 3D animation and post-production capability who can independently take complex projects from approved concepts and storyboards through to final delivery.

You’ll work across technically detailed visualisation projects, creating accurate and engaging 3D animations that help communicate complex equipment, infrastructure, environments and industrial processes.

About the Role

Working as part of our Production team, you’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality 3D video and animation projects while maintaining Truescape’s standards for technical accuracy, visual quality and production efficiency.

You will:

• Take approved concepts and storyboards through 3D production, animation, post-production and final delivery.
• Create accurate 3D models and animations of equipment, infrastructure and buildings within real-world terrain environments.
• Build detailed scenes to real-world scale, including importing datasets, modelling, texturing, lighting, camera setup and animation.
• Create accurate 3D environments using tools such as 3ds Max, Global Mapper, Forest Pack and RailClone.
• Develop effective shots, camera angles and movements that clearly communicate complex subject matter and support the intended story.
• Bring together 3D animation, stock footage, AI-generated video, voiceover, music, sound and graphics into polished video productions.
• Complete post-production work including motion graphics, camera tracking, masking and visual effects.
• Maintain organised project files, assets, versions and outputs throughout the production lifecycle.
• Share technical knowledge and provide practical guidance to less-experienced team members when required.
• Help develop reusable assets, templates and production approaches that improve quality, consistency and efficiency.
• Explore and use AI-assisted video and production tools where they can improve creative capability, efficiency and quality.

About You

You’re an experienced 3D professional who is comfortable taking ownership of complex animation and visualisation projects and seeing them through from concept to final delivery.

You combine strong technical 3D capability with an eye for visual storytelling. You understand how camera movement, composition, pacing and continuity work together to communicate a story clearly, and you’re equally comfortable getting into the detail of modelling, lighting, animation and post-production.

You’re organised, collaborative and able to work independently to deadlines. You also enjoy keeping up with new technology and finding practical ways to incorporate emerging tools, including AI, into established production workflows.

You’ll Bring

• A minimum of five years’ relevant, hands-on industry experience using 3ds Max, Maya or a comparable 3D package.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating multiple years of experience delivering high-quality 3D animation projects.
• Proven ability to independently deliver large, complex and highly detailed visualisation projects from an approved brief or storyboard through to final delivery.
• Strong skills across 3D modelling, lighting, camera setup and animation, ideally using 3ds Max or similar.
• Strong visual storytelling and cinematography skills, including composition, camera angles and movement, pacing, rhythm and continuity.
• Experience with texturing and image creation or enhancement using Adobe Photoshop or similar.
• Hands-on post-production experience using Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere or similar.
• Experience with motion graphics, camera tracking, masking and visual effects.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to organise your work effectively and meet demanding project deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
